The Director – Batch Control and Integration is responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, and execution of batch automation systems and their seamless integration with enterprise platforms. This role ensures the standardization, reliability, and performance of batch control systems in line with industry regulations and smart manufacturing goals.
Define and execute the enterprise-wide batch control strategy using ISA-88 and ISA-95 standards.
Lead the design and rollout of scalable batch automation architectures across manufacturing sites.
Select and standardize platforms (e.g., Rockwell PlantPAx, Siemens PCS 7, Emerson DeltaV, ABB 800xA).
Oversee integration between batch control systems, MES, ERP, LIMS, and historians for full digital continuity.
Ensure real-time data exchange, recipe management, and traceability across production and business systems.
Establish middleware, OPC UA, and secure API layers for cross-platform connectivity.
Lead implementation and lifecycle management of electronic batch records (eBR) and recipe libraries.
Ensure compliance with GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and other batch documentation standards.
Optimize sequencing, interlocks, phase logic, and exception handling within batch processes.
Ensure systems meet regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., FDA, EMA, ISO, GAMP 5, ISA/IEC 62443).
Oversee computer system validation (CSV), audit readiness, and change control protocols.
Define cybersecurity policies for batch control environments and automation networks.
Drive batch process digitization, including use of digital twins, cloud analytics, and AI-based batch analytics.
Implement predictive control, batch performance monitoring, and KPI dashboards across plants.
Enable continuous improvement using advanced process control (APC), multivariate analysis, and event correlation.
Manage and mentor a global team of batch control engineers, integration architects, and project managers.
Collaborate with operations, IT/OT, QA/QC, and corporate digital teams on cross-functional initiatives.
Build vendor partnerships and oversee system integrator performance.
