Job Title: Director/VP - Cybersecurity Specialist

Job Summary

The Director or VP of Cybersecurity leads the entire cybersecurity function within the organization, overseeing the strategic development, execution, and management of all cybersecurity initiatives. This leadership role ensures that the company’s cybersecurity strategies align with its business objectives, effectively mitigating risks across all departments and operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, a proactive approach to risk management, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that aligns with the organization’s business goals.
  • Oversee the cybersecurity team, including recruitment, training, and performance management to ensure a high-performing unit.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for cybersecurity projects, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization.
  • Report to senior executives and provide insights on the organization’s security posture, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors, auditors, and cybersecurity consultants to enhance security measures.
  • Ensure the organization complies with industry-specific regulations, laws, and cybersecurity standards to minimize legal risks.
  • Oversee incident response and business continuity planning across the enterprise, ensuring preparedness for potential security breaches.
  • Continuously monitor and assess emerging threats and the organization’s risk landscape, adapting strategies as necessary.
  • Drive the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to protect against advanced cyber threats, fostering innovation within the cybersecurity team.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Expert knowledge of enterprise security architecture, risk management, and governance.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, cybersecurity compliance, and data protection regulations.
  • Ability to lead large teams and manage diverse cybersecurity programs effectively.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity trends, threats, and innovations to stay ahead in the field.
  • Excellent business acumen and ability to translate cybersecurity needs into strategic goals.
  • High-level knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA).

Educational Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) certifications.

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale security operations and teams.

Tools and Equipment

  • SIEM and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Cloud security solutions and advanced encryption technologies.
  • Incident management systems and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools.

  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation skills for vendor management and service-level agreements.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and manage critical security incidents effectively.
