Job Title: Cryogenic Turbine Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Cryogenic Turbine Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational experience or internships in turbine design or cryogenic applications who are eager to expand their technical skills. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers on projects involving turbine systems operating at cryogenic temperatures, contributing to design, analysis, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Analysis:

  • Assist in developing and refining turbine designs for cryogenic applications using industry-standard CAD and simulation software.
  • Support performance analysis by conducting load calculations, thermal evaluations, and efficiency assessments.
  • Contribute to design iterations based on simulation results and test data feedback.

System Integration & Testing:

  • Collaborate in integrating turbine components with cryogenic systems, ensuring proper insulation and material compatibility.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of turbine systems under low-temperature conditions to verify performance.
  • Help document test procedures, outcomes, and support the development of performance benchmarks.

Research & Development:

  • Assist in research initiatives aimed at enhancing turbine efficiency and reliability in cryogenic environments.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in cryogenic turbine design.
  • Contribute ideas for innovative solutions to technical challenges unique to low-temperature operations.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, design reports, and performance analysis summaries.
  • Record data from simulations and tests, ensuring accuracy and clarity for future reference.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to the engineering team and support project updates.

Collaboration & Continuous Learning:

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, thermal, and materials engineers.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through training sessions, workshops, and mentorship.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions for process and product improvements.

  • Cryogenic Design Principles: Develop a deep understanding of turbine design challenges specific to cryogenic applications.
  • Performance Optimization: Focus on improving efficiency and reliability through detailed analysis and testing.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Apply analytical tools and creative approaches to overcome technical challenges in cryogenic environments.
  • Continuous Learning: Emphasize skill development and knowledge expansion through hands-on experience and collaboration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with diverse engineering teams to integrate multidisciplinary expertise into design solutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Cryogenics, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework or academic projects in turbine systems, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, or cryogenic applications.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of prior experience through internships, co-op programs, or academic projects in turbine design or cryogenic systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in cryogenic engineering and turbine performance optimization.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with CAD and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks, MATLAB) is advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute innovative ideas in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Basic safety and engineering certifications are a plus.
  • Additional training or certifications in cryogenics or turbine technology are beneficial but not required.
