Control Valve Technician – Dosing, Isolation Valves

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Senior Control Valve Technician is responsible for independently performing complex servicing, troubleshooting, calibration, and overhauling of control and isolation valves, with specialization in dosing systems. The role includes leading field teams, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety procedures, and plant reliability goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead valve maintenance and overhauling tasks including dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly of various control and isolation valves (e.g., diaphragm, butterfly, globe, ball, and gate valves).

  • Calibrate and configure valve positioners (electropneumatic/digital), actuators (pneumatic/electric/hydraulic), and control accessories.

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and testing including seat leakage, stroke verification, actuator pressure tests, and shut-off checks.

  • Review and interpret technical documents such as P&IDs, valve datasheets, control loop drawings, and OEM manuals.

  • Support critical maintenance during plant shutdowns and commissioning—including loop checks and system readiness for dosing systems.

  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all maintenance records, test sheets, and valve history logs in CMMS.

  • Provide technical input on valve selection, upgrades, and retrofits.

  • Train and mentor junior and mid-level technicians in proper handling, servicing, and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Ensure full compliance with lockout/tagout, confined space, and other plant HSE protocols.

  • Coordinate with instrumentation, process, and QA/QC teams to ensure reliable operation of process control valves.


Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma or Trade Certification in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or related field

  • 8–12 years of hands-on experience in valve maintenance, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role

  • Expert knowledge of valve mechanics, actuator control, and diagnostic testing procedures

  • Familiar with valve brands like Fisher, Samson, Masoneilan, AUMA, Rotork, Flowserve, and related diagnostic tools (e.g., ValveLink, AMT, etc.)

  • Experience working in high-integrity process environments (e.g., hazardous dosing systems, utilities, refining, or power plants)
