The Junior Control Valve Technician is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, inspection, testing, and servicing of control and isolation valves, particularly those used in chemical dosing, water treatment, and process systems. The role supports senior technicians and engineers in field and workshop environments, ensuring valves operate reliably and safely.
Assist in the disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of control and isolation valves (e.g., ball, butterfly, globe, diaphragm valves).
Support routine inspections and preventive maintenance of dosing valves used in chlorination, pH control, and chemical feed systems.
Perform basic testing of valve actuation (pneumatic/electric), stroke checks, and leak detection under supervision.
Help identify worn or damaged components (seals, seats, diaphragms) and assist with replacements.
Learn to work with valve positioners, limit switches, and actuator control circuits.
Follow safety and isolation procedures (lockout/tagout) before starting any valve-related work.
Maintain basic records of inspections, repairs, and test results.
Assist in inventory checks for valve spares, gaskets, and calibration tools.
Keep work area clean and organized and report any hazards or equipment faults.
Participate in toolbox talks and technical training sessions as assigned.
ITI / Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Industrial Maintenance
0–2 years of experience in valve maintenance or mechanical fitting (internship or field training preferred)
Basic understanding of valve types and functions in process systems
Familiarity with basic hand tools, torque tools, and pneumatic/electric actuators is a plus
Willingness to work in field and confined space environments under supervision
Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard work procedures
Basic safety awareness and ability to handle tools and materials responsibly
Good communication and teamwork in field environments
Physically fit and ready to work in varied plant/site conditions
