Job Title: Control Room Engineer (Power Plant)
Job Summary:
The Senior Control Room Engineer is responsible for leading the operation, optimization, and maintenance of power plant systems from the control room. This role involves overseeing SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS), resolving advanced technical issues, and driving efficiency and reliability across turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary systems. The Senior Engineer provides leadership, mentors junior team members, and ensures compliance with industry standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
System Oversight and Optimization:
- Oversee the operation and monitoring of power plant systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Analyze system alarms, trends, and performance data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Execute complex operational commands to adjust system parameters, supporting optimal plant functionality.
Advanced Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve advanced technical issues in SCADA, DCS, and related control systems, minimizing downtime.
- Lead root cause analyses for recurring issues and implement long-term corrective measures.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors to address technical challenges and enhance system performance.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Prepare in-depth reports on plant performance, operational anomalies, and recommendations for system enhancements.
- Use data analytics tools to identify trends and propose strategies for improving plant efficiency.
- Update and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for control room operations and system management.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all control room activities comply with industry regulations, safety protocols, and organizational standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and oversee the implementation of safety mitigation strategies.
- Validate and maintain safety-critical systems, including emergency shutdown mechanisms.
Leadership and Mentorship:
- Provide technical leadership to the control room team, ensuring high performance and adherence to best practices.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Act as the primary contact for cross-functional teams, coordinating field operations and maintenance activities.
Project Management:
- Lead large-scale projects, including system upgrades, commissioning, and retrofitting of control systems.
- Develop project plans, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure timely project completion.
- Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to maintain quality and safety standards.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to improve SCADA/DCS system performance and reliability.
- Drive the implementation of predictive maintenance tools and advanced analytics for better system monitoring.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate innovative solutions into operations.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications in SCADA/DCS systems (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Honeywell) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in power plant operations, with significant experience in SCADA/DCS management and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operational challenges in high-pressure environments.
Tools and Technologies:
- Expertise in SCADA/DCS platforms like Siemens WinCC, ABB, Honeywell Experion, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, and vibration analyzers.
- Familiarity with advanced data analytics tools for system performance monitoring and optimization.
