Job Title: Control Room Engineer (Power Plant)
Job Summary:
The Control Room Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and reliable operation of power plant systems from the control room. This role involves leading a team of engineers, optimizing SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) operations, managing large-scale projects, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The Manager drives strategic initiatives, fosters team development, and aligns control room operations with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and manage the control room team, including senior, mid-level, and junior engineers.
- Define team objectives, allocate resources, and monitor performance to meet operational goals.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance, fostering professional development and collaboration within the team.
System Oversight and Optimization:
- Oversee the operation, monitoring, and optimization of SCADA and DCS systems for turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Ensure system reliability and efficiency by implementing advanced diagnostic and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Drive initiatives to upgrade legacy control systems and integrate cutting-edge technologies for improved performance.
Project Management:
- Lead large-scale projects related to control system upgrades, commissioning, and retrofitting.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring timely completion.
- Identify risks during project execution and implement mitigation strategies to maintain quality and safety.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all control room operations adhere to industry standards (e.g., IEC, ISA) and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and validations of safety-critical systems, including emergency shutdown mechanisms.
- Oversee the implementation of safety protocols and foster a culture of safety within the team.
Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on control room operations.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on system performance, operational challenges, and project progress to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align control room activities with organizational objectives and client needs.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance SCADA/DCS system functionality and reliability.
- Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and automation tools for improved system monitoring and optimization.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and propose innovative solutions to address operational challenges.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in SCADA/DCS systems (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Honeywell) and project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in power plant operations, with significant experience in SCADA/DCS management.
- At least 3-5 years in a managerial role overseeing teams and leading complex projects.
Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency in SCADA/DCS platforms such as Siemens WinCC, ABB, Honeywell Experion, or equivalent.
- Expertise in diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, and vibration analyzers.
- Familiarity with advanced data analytics tools for performance monitoring and optimization.

- Willingness to travel for site inspections, client meetings, and regulatory compliance activities.
