Job Title: Control Room Engineer (Power Plant)
Job Summary:
The Fresher Control Room Engineer is responsible for assisting in the monitoring and operation of power plant systems from the control room. This role involves learning and supporting the management of turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary equipment through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The engineer ensures operational reliability and compliance with safety protocols under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
System Monitoring and Operation:
- Monitor plant systems, including turbines, generators, and boilers, using SCADA/DCS interfaces.
- Observe and interpret alarms, trends, and system statuses, escalating issues to senior engineers.
- Assist in executing operational commands to adjust system parameters as required.
Data Recording and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate logs of plant performance metrics, including pressure, temperature, and power output.
- Assist in preparing daily operation reports and documenting any anomalies or deviations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during all control room operations.
- Support emergency response procedures under supervision, including system shutdowns or startups.
- Participate in safety training programs to gain foundational knowledge of plant safety requirements.
Learning and Development:
- Attend training sessions to understand control room equipment, SCADA/DCS systems, and power plant operations.
- Build familiarity with plant processes, system configurations, and emergency protocols.
- Assist senior engineers in performing routine checks and system optimizations.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to coordinate plant activities.
- Assist in testing and commissioning new equipment and systems under supervision.

Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of power plant processes and control systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA and DCS platforms is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret system data and alarms.
- Awareness of safety standards and protocols in industrial environments.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic training or certification in SCADA/DCS systems is an advantage but not mandatory.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to power plant operations are beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and pressure gauges is helpful.
- Exposure to SCADA/DCS software platforms like Siemens WinCC, ABB, or Honeywell Experion is a plus.
