The Senior Compliance Engineer leads the development, execution, and strategic oversight of regulatory compliance programs for HVAC products, ensuring adherence to ASHRAE, UL, DOE, and international standards. This role provides expert guidance on complex regulatory issues, drives product certification efforts globally, and collaborates with cross-functional leadership to align compliance strategies with business objectives and innovation goals.
Define and implement corporate compliance strategies addressing evolving ASHRAE, UL, DOE, EPA, and global regulatory landscapes.
Lead risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for regulatory changes impacting HVAC product lines.
Serve as the primary liaison with certification bodies, regulatory agencies, and industry standards organizations.
Oversee large-scale compliance certification projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality of documentation.
Direct internal and external audits, including managing remediation activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, quality, and legal teams to embed compliance into all phases of the product lifecycle.
Provide expert interpretation of technical standards and influence product design to meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
Evaluate new technologies and product innovations for compliance risks and certification pathways.
Lead training programs to build organizational knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance best practices.
Mentor and develop mid-level and junior compliance engineers to build a high-performing compliance team.
Represent the organization in industry consortia, standards committees (e.g., ASHRAE, UL), and regulatory forums.
Drive collaboration across global teams to ensure harmonized compliance practices and regulatory intelligence sharing.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (required)
Advanced certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC), or similar are a plus
8+ years of progressive experience in HVAC product compliance, regulatory affairs, or certification management
Proven leadership of multi-jurisdictional certification projects and regulatory strategy development
Deep familiarity with ASHRAE, UL, DOE, EPA, and international standards and certification processes
Expertise in compliance testing methodologies, regulatory reporting, and certification submission platforms
Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001/14001) and regulatory audit frameworks
Strong command of documentation management and data analysis software
Strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration
