The Mid-Level Compliance Engineer manages and executes compliance programs to ensure HVAC products meet all applicable ASHRAE, UL, DOE, and other regulatory requirements. This role leads testing protocols, documentation, and certification processes while collaborating closely with engineering, quality, and regulatory teams to uphold product safety, efficiency, and market readiness.
Interpret and apply complex HVAC industry standards and regulations, including ASHRAE performance criteria, UL safety standards, DOE energy efficiency requirements, and international codes.
Lead compliance assessments and gap analyses to identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
Stay updated on evolving regulations and guide product teams on necessary adaptations.
Design and oversee HVAC product testing plans, including lab and field tests, to verify compliance with standards.
Analyze test data, identify non-compliance issues, and coordinate corrective actions.
Manage relationships with third-party testing laboratories and certification bodies.
Prepare comprehensive compliance documentation, test reports, and certification submissions for regulatory agencies and certification organizations.
Ensure all product documentation meets internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
Lead internal audits and support external inspections related to product compliance.
Collaborate with R&D, engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to integrate compliance requirements early in product development.
Provide guidance and training on regulatory standards and compliance best practices to cross-functional teams.
Participate in product design reviews and regulatory strategy sessions.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (required)
4–7 years of experience in HVAC product compliance, testing, or regulatory affairs
Proven track record managing certification projects and compliance audits
In-depth knowledge of ASHRAE standards, UL safety requirements, DOE energy regulations, and other applicable codes
Experience with testing equipment, laboratory procedures, and third-party certification processes
Proficient with documentation tools, data analysis software, and regulatory databases
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and project management abilities
Ability to lead compliance initiatives and mentor junior engineers
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to regulatory changes
Collaborative mindset and ability to influence cross-functional teams
