The Senior Commissioning Supervisor – HVAC Systems is responsible for leading end-to-end commissioning of HVAC systems in high-performance and mission-critical environments. This role involves supervising field activities, managing cross-disciplinary coordination, validating system performance, and ensuring successful integration with controls, electrical, and life safety systems. The role demands in-depth technical expertise, leadership in resolving complex issues, and ownership of quality, safety, and compliance.
Lead the commissioning strategy and execution for complex HVAC systems including chilled water plants, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, ventilation and exhaust systems, VRF/VRV systems, and cleanroom/pressurized environments.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of commissioning engineers, subcontractors, and technicians to ensure timely and compliant execution.
Oversee functional and performance testing, TAB (Testing, Adjusting, Balancing), and integration with BMS and life safety systems.
Interpret and validate HVAC designs, control sequences, technical submittals, and construction drawings to ensure commissioning readiness.
Ensure all pre-functional checks, pressure/leak testing, flushing, and equipment startup are conducted per project standards and industry codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
Develop and manage detailed commissioning schedules, matrixes, and workflows aligned with project milestones.
Resolve system deficiencies through troubleshooting, design coordination, or field-level technical adjustments.
Manage documentation processes including FAT/SAT records, test protocols, deviation reports, final commissioning dossiers, and client acceptance certificates.
Conduct client walkthroughs, training sessions, and handover of systems including O&M documentation.
Full-System Validation: Ensure all HVAC systems perform per design intent and meet energy efficiency, air quality, and thermal comfort goals.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Align HVAC commissioning with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and automation systems for integrated building performance.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce site safety, risk mitigation, and adherence to local and international codes during high-risk startup activities.
Technical Leadership: Guide junior engineers and technicians; provide high-level troubleshooting and mentoring during live testing scenarios.
Client & Stakeholder Interface: Serve as the primary commissioning contact for consultants, third-party auditors, and client facility teams.
Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
8–12+ years of HVAC commissioning experience across complex commercial, healthcare, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of BMS, control sequences, chilled water systems, and air balancing procedures.
Deep knowledge of ASHRAE standards, green building requirements (LEED, IGBC), and commissioning best practices (NEBB, BSRIA, etc.).
Proficient in using commissioning tools and software for documentation, planning, and reporting.
Excellent leadership, communication, and documentation skills; capable of managing commissioning teams on large, fast-track projects.
Willingness to work extended hours on-site during critical testing and handover phases.
