Job Summary
A Senior Cloud Systems Administrator takes a leadership role in managing large-scale cloud systems. They oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructures and lead complex troubleshooting efforts, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of cloud environments. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies and a proactive approach to optimizing resources and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Cloud Infrastructure Management: Lead the design and deployment of cloud systems that support business-critical applications, ensuring they are robust and scalable.
- Optimization: Proactively optimize cloud environments for cost, performance, and scalability using advanced tools and strategies to maximize resource efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Implement disaster recovery strategies and ensure that cloud systems have failover capabilities to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Security and Compliance: Design and enforce comprehensive security strategies to protect cloud data and meet compliance standards such as GDPR and HIPAA.
- Mentorship: Mentor and train junior and mid-level administrators, sharing best practices and cloud knowledge to foster professional development.
- Collaboration with Architects: Work closely with cloud architects to design cloud solutions and improve architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control cloud resource costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement budgeting strategies to optimize expenditure.
- Incident Management: Lead the resolution of major cloud incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and effective communication with stakeholders during critical situations.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Cloud Expertise: Advanced knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Automation: Expert in automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
- Networking: Deep understanding of cloud networking, security groups, routing, and VPC/VNet configuration.
- Security Management: Expertise in cloud security tools, encryption, IAM, multi-factor authentication, and vulnerability management.
- Disaster Recovery: Experience designing and implementing cloud disaster recovery and high availability solutions.
- Performance Monitoring: Ability to proactively monitor system performance and make adjustments as needed.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
- Certifications (Preferred): AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
