Job Title: Senior - Cloud Architect

Job Summary

The Senior Cloud Architect is a pivotal role responsible for the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructures tailored for large-scale enterprise applications. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies and architecture, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including IT, DevOps, and various business units. The Senior Cloud Architect will lead cloud migration projects, ensuring that cloud solutions are not only scalable and secure but also compliant with industry standards. This role is essential for integrating cloud services with existing infrastructure, thereby enhancing overall business performance and agility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing Scalable Cloud Solutions: Architect and implement cloud infrastructure that ensures high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Cloud Migration Projects: Lead and execute the migration of on-premises applications to the cloud, focusing on minimizing disruption and ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures including Identity and Access Management (IAM), firewalls, and data encryption, while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA.
  • Cost Management and Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to optimize cloud spending and resource allocation, utilizing cost management tools effectively.
  • Collaboration: Partner with business leaders, developers, and IT teams to identify and implement cloud solutions that align with organizational needs and objectives.
  • Mentoring Junior Architects: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior cloud engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Cloud Platforms Expertise: Advanced proficiency in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficient in using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager for automated infrastructure management.
  • Networking and Security: Strong understanding of VPC, subnets, VPNs, Direct Connect, load balancers, and cloud security practices including IAM and encryption.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps tools and methodologies, including Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Experience with cloud monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Prometheus for performance enhancement.
  • Cost Management: Knowledge of cost control tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and Google Cloud Billing.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF (Optional).

  • Cloud Architecture Design: Develop high-performance, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures that meet business requirements.
  • Cloud Security and Compliance: Ensure all cloud architectures adhere to industry standards and security best practices.
  • Cost and Resource Optimization: Manage cloud budgets effectively, minimizing unnecessary expenses while optimizing resource usage.
  • Mentoring and Team Leadership: Train and support junior cloud engineers and architects to build a collaborative and knowledgeable team.

Experience

5-8 years of experience in cloud computing, systems architecture, and IT infrastructure, with a minimum of 2-3 years focused on cloud architecture.
