We are seeking a proactive and technically inclined Junior Chiller Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role is perfect for individuals with some hands-on experience or relevant training in refrigeration or HVAC systems, looking to build a career in chiller system maintenance and repair. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, you will assist in the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of chiller systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Chiller Installation & Commissioning:
• Assist in the installation, calibration, and commissioning of chiller systems to ensure proper functionality.
• Support senior mechanics during setup procedures, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and industry standards.
Preventive Maintenance & Repairs:
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, and component checks to ensure optimal performance of chiller units.
• Help diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues in chiller systems.
• Assist in repair activities, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of chiller components under supervision.
Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory guidelines during maintenance and repair tasks.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to a culture of safety and quality.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Assist in updating maintenance logs and preparing basic reports on chiller system performance.
• Document any issues encountered during maintenance and communicate them to the supervisor.
Professional Development:
• Engage in on-the-job training to enhance technical skills in chiller systems and refrigeration technology.
• Learn to operate diagnostic tools and repair equipment under the mentorship of experienced technicians.
• Collaborate with team members to gain a comprehensive understanding of system operations and maintenance best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or coursework in refrigeration, HVAC technology, or mechanical/electrical maintenance is an asset.
• A foundational understanding of mechanical or electrical systems is beneficial. Experience:
• 1-2 years of experience, internships, or relevant training in chiller systems, refrigeration, or HVAC maintenance is preferred.
Skills:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative team spirit.
• Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Certifications (Preferred):
• Basic safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) are an advantage.
• Additional certifications in refrigeration or HVAC maintenance are a plus but not required.
