Roles & Responsibilities

The Chief Technical Officer – Mechanical Systems is a senior executive responsible for leading the company’s mechanical engineering strategy, technology innovation, and system integration. The CTO will oversee the design, development, and implementation of complex mechanical systems in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring competitive advantage through technical excellence, innovation, and efficient execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the long-term technology roadmap for mechanical systems aligned with the company’s growth objectives.

  • Technical Oversight: Supervise engineering activities related to design, development, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems and products.

  • Innovation Management: Promote R&D, foster innovation, and evaluate emerging technologies for mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing methods.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with production, operations, QA/QC, procurement, and project management teams to ensure technical alignment.

  • Talent Development: Build, mentor, and lead high-performing mechanical engineering teams across multiple locations or projects.

  • Design Governance: Establish and enforce engineering standards, design protocols, and documentation best practices.

  • Project Leadership: Oversee the technical aspects of major mechanical design and EPC projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.

  • Client Engagement: Serve as a technical advisor during high-level client discussions, proposals, and problem resolution.

  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure mechanical systems meet industry codes (ASME, API, ISO, etc.) and regulatory compliance.

  • Capital Planning: Contribute to budgeting for R&D, tools, labs, and capital equipment necessary for advanced mechanical engineering functions.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Mechanical System Integration: Expertise in integrating mechanical systems with electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Advanced Engineering: Lead initiatives involving finite element analysis (FEA), CFD, CAD/CAE tools, and system optimization.

  • Product & System Lifecycle: Manage entire mechanical system lifecycle—from concept and prototyping to production and support.

  • Industry Standards: In-depth knowledge of ASME, API, ISO, IEC, ANSI, and other relevant mechanical engineering codes.

  • Sustainability & Efficiency: Drive development of energy-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable mechanical systems.

  • Technology Strategy: Align technology choices with business models and long-term goals, including digitalization, Industry 4.0, or smart manufacturing initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)

    • Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field (preferred)

  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • Chartered Engineer or PE license

    • PMP, Six Sigma, or Lean certifications

    • Advanced training in Design Thinking, Agile methodologies, or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

  • Experience:

    • 15+ years in mechanical engineering roles with increasing responsibilities

    • 5+ years in senior technical leadership roles (Engineering Head, Technical Director, etc.)

    • Experience in sectors such as oil & gas, manufacturing, EPC, product development, or energy systems

  • Skills:

    • Proven leadership in engineering project execution and innovation

    • Strong business acumen with ability to align technology with strategy

    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

    • Visionary thinking with a hands-on approach to technology implementation
