Job Summary:

The Chief Engineering Officer – Flight Control and Instrumentation leads the engineering strategy, innovation, and execution for all flight control systems and instrumentation architectures across aircraft platforms. This executive role oversees the design, development, integration, testing, and regulatory compliance of advanced flight control technologies and aircraft instrumentation to ensure operational safety, performance, and technological superiority.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Flight Control Systems Strategy – Direct architecture, development, and lifecycle management of fly-by-wire systems, autopilot, and flight management functions.

  • Aircraft Instrumentation Oversight – Lead integration and validation of cockpit instrumentation, onboard sensors, and flight data systems.

  • Systems Engineering Leadership – Drive a systems engineering approach across control and instrumentation programs, ensuring alignment with safety and performance objectives.

  • Compliance & Certification – Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace regulatory frameworks (FAA, EASA, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A).

  • Innovation in Control Technologies – Champion research in model-based control, redundancy management, adaptive systems, and digital cockpit advancements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute engineering roadmaps for flight control and instrumentation aligned with aircraft design goals.

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in the design and integration of primary and secondary flight control systems.

  • Oversee the specification, integration, and certification of avionics sensors and aircraft instrumentation (e.g., air data computers, inertial reference units, flight displays).

  • Manage engineering governance for control laws, feedback systems, fault-tolerant design, and HMI (Human-Machine Interface).

  • Represent the company in technical audits, regulatory reviews, and certification board meetings.

  • Mentor engineering leadership and foster a culture of innovation, compliance, and technical excellence.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Control Systems, or a related field.

  • 15+ years of experience in flight control systems engineering and instrumentation integration, with at least 5 years in senior or executive roles.

  • Proven expertise in fly-by-wire, flight control laws, aircraft sensors, and instrumentation systems.

  • Deep familiarity with regulatory and safety standards: DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, ARINC standards.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Visionary engineering leadership with strategic and operational capabilities.

  • Expertise in control theory, embedded avionics, and system validation.

  • Strong knowledge of systems integration, redundancy, and fault-tolerant design.

  • Excellent communication, project governance, and executive decision-making skills.

  • High-level stakeholder engagement and regulatory interface experience.
