The Certification Engineer is responsible for managing and executing certification activities for cabin HVAC systems to ensure full compliance with FAA, EASA, and other applicable aerospace regulations. This role coordinates certification plans, interfaces with design, test, and quality teams, and drives compliance through the product development lifecycle. The engineer supports regulatory submissions, leads testing coordination, and helps resolve certification-related issues to facilitate successful program delivery.
Develop, implement, and maintain certification plans for cabin HVAC systems in accordance with FAA (FAR 25), EASA (CS-25), DO-160, and related standards.
Interpret and apply regulatory requirements to system design and testing activities, ensuring compliance throughout development.
Coordinate and oversee certification testing activities, including environmental, functional, and performance tests, ensuring test protocols meet regulatory standards.
Review and validate certification data packages, reports, and documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
Collaborate closely with design, test, quality, and reliability teams to identify and mitigate certification risks.
Lead resolution of certification issues, supporting root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
Prepare and present certification status updates and technical reports to program management and regulatory authorities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in FAA/EASA regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.
Support audit readiness activities and respond to regulatory agency inquiries.
Mentor junior certification engineers and promote best practices within the certification team.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (required).
Experience:
3–5 years experience in aerospace certification or systems engineering with direct exposure to FAA/EASA regulatory frameworks.
Proven experience managing certification activities for cabin HVAC or environmental control systems.
Familiarity with regulatory test standards such as DO-160 and ARP 4754 is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of FAA and EASA certification processes and documentation requirements.
Experience coordinating complex certification test programs and interpreting test results.
Proficient in certification documentation tools and systems (e.g., DOORS, Teamcenter).
Ability to analyze technical data and regulatory texts to ensure compliance.
