Job Title: Certification Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Aerospace Certification Engineer to join our aerospace certification team. This position is ideal for individuals who have a strong interest in aerospace systems and regulations, and who are eager to learn about the certification process for aerospace products. As a Junior Aerospace Certification Engineer, you will assist in ensuring that aircraft, spacecraft, and other aerospace systems meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards set by authorities such as the FAA, EASA, and other aviation regulatory bodies. You will work closely with senior engineers and regulatory experts to gain hands-on experience in the certification process, contributing to the successful certification of aerospace products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting the Certification Process:

    • Assist senior engineers in preparing and submitting the necessary documentation for aerospace certification, including certification plans, test procedures, compliance reports, and other technical documents.
    • Help in ensuring that design documents, test results, and engineering reports align with regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in compiling and organizing data required for submission to regulatory bodies, including the FAA, EASA, and other aviation authorities.
  2. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Learn and apply relevant aviation regulations and standards (e.g., FAR, CS, ICAO) to assist in verifying compliance of designs and systems.
    • Review and track the progress of certification activities to ensure that all phases of the certification process are completed on schedule and in accordance with regulations.
    • Collaborate with design teams to ensure that safety and performance criteria are met for various aerospace components and systems.
  3. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings, certification statuses, and progress updates to internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
    • Maintain and organize certification-related documentation, ensuring that all records are up-to-date and easily accessible for auditing and review purposes.
    • Help senior engineers ensure that all test results, design documents, and certification deliverables meet internal and external quality standards.
  4. Testing and Validation:

    • Support the testing process by reviewing test plans, procedures, and results to ensure they meet certification requirements.
    • Observe and document testing to verify compliance with certification standards.
    • Assist in ensuring that all test data is collected, analyzed, and presented in accordance with regulatory expectations.
  5. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure that certification requirements are integrated into all stages of product development.
    • Assist in identifying potential issues in the certification process and propose solutions to senior engineers and project managers.
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders such as regulators, testing agencies, and clients to ensure smooth communication during the certification process.
  6. Learning and Professional Development:

    • Take part in training and mentorship programs to build your knowledge of aerospace certification processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Stay updated on changes to certification standards, safety regulations, and emerging technologies in the aerospace industry.
    • Take an active role in your own development by learning from more experienced engineers and participating in relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Key Focus Areas:

Aerodynamics:
  • Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
  • Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
  • Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
  • Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
  • Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Fresh graduates or individuals with 1-2 years of professional experience in aerospace or a related field are encouraged to apply.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of aerospace systems and components, including aircraft structures, avionics, and propulsion systems.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as FAA FARs, EASA CS, and other aviation industry standards is beneficial but not required.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
    • Familiarity with certification-related software or tools (e.g., DOORS, compliance management systems) is a plus.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage and maintain documentation and ensure compliance.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude toward resolving challenges in the certification process.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Any certifications or courses in aerospace regulations, safety standards, or quality assurance would be an advantage.
    • Any prior internship experience or academic projects related to aerospace certification or engineering is beneficial.
