The Calibration Technician is responsible for overseeing the calibration, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and measurement systems. This role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating calibration activities to meet organizational goals. The Calibration Supervisor plays a critical role in quality assurance, operational reliability, and team leadership.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of calibration technicians to ensure timely and accurate calibration of instruments and equipment.
Plan and implement calibration schedules to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Review and approve calibration reports, certificates, and documentation for compliance with industry standards ( ISO/IEC 17025).
Troubleshoot and resolve complex calibration issues, providing technical guidance to the team.
Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to ensure instrument accuracy and reliability.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify calibration procedures and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Train and mentor technicians, enhancing their technical skills and ensuring adherence to best practices.
Manage inventory of calibration tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring availability for scheduled tasks.
Prepare and present reports on calibration activities, performance metrics, and compliance status to management.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory safety standards.
In-depth knowledge of calibration principles, measurement systems, and instrumentation standards.
Strong leadership and team management skills to oversee calibration activities and staff.
Proficiency in using advanced calibration tools ( multifunction calibrators, HART communicators, deadweight testers).
Ability to interpret and review technical documents, schematics, and calibration procedures.
Familiarity with compliance standards ( ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540) and quality assurance protocols.
Diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related technical field.
Certifications in calibration or metrology ( ASQ Certified Calibration Technician) are advantageous.
8+ years of experience in calibration and instrumentation, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
Advanced calibration equipment (pressure calibrators, temperature simulators, process calibrators).
Calibration management software ( Fluke MET/TEAM, Beamex CMX).
Diagnostic tools ( oscilloscopes, loop testers, spectrum analyzers).
Excellent communication and organizational skills for team leadership and stakeholder collaboration.
Strong problem-solving skills to address escalated technical issues.
High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
Flexibility to travel to field sites and oversee calibration activities as required.
