Job Title: Boiler Valve Technician

Job Summary:

The Fresher Boiler Valve Technician will assist in the maintenance, installation, and repair of valves used in boiler systems, ensuring that these critical components are functioning efficiently and safely. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on experience working with industrial valve systems, particularly in steam boilers, heating systems, and power plants. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, the Boiler Valve Technician will learn the skills necessary to support the operational efficiency and safety of boiler systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Valve Installation and Setup:

    • Assist in the installation of various types of valves used in boiler systems, such as safety valves, pressure relief valves, and control valves.
    • Learn to follow technical diagrams and instructions to ensure that valves are correctly installed and set up according to boiler system requirements and manufacturer specifications.
    • Help ensure that all associated piping, supports, and connections are properly installed.
  2. Routine Maintenance and Inspections:

    • Perform routine inspections of boiler valves to check for signs of wear, leaks, corrosion, or other damage.
    • Assist in the lubrication and cleaning of valves and related components to prevent malfunction or failure.
    • Help in maintaining records of routine maintenance, inspections, and parts replacements.
  3. Troubleshooting and Repairs:

    • Support senior technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting valve issues, such as leaks, faulty valve operation, or pressure regulation problems.
    • Assist in performing minor repairs and replacements of faulty valves, seals, and gaskets under the supervision of senior technicians.
    • Learn how to calibrate valves to ensure they operate correctly under various pressure and temperature conditions.
  4. System Testing and Calibration:

    • Help test valve functionality after maintenance or installation to ensure they are operating according to the required specifications.
    • Assist with pressure and leak testing on valves and related components to ensure the integrity and safety of the boiler system.
    • Learn to use specialized tools and equipment to calibrate valves for proper operation within boiler systems.
  5. Safety Compliance:

    • Follow all safety protocols during installation, maintenance, and repairs of boiler valves to prevent accidents and ensure safe working conditions.
    • Assist senior technicians in ensuring that valve installations comply with relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize safety hazards.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Help maintain accurate records of all work performed, including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements.
    • Assist in preparing maintenance reports and documenting issues encountered during valve maintenance or repair procedures.
    • Support senior technicians in creating detailed reports for future reference or compliance audits.
  7. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop technical skills in boiler valve systems, including learning about various types of valves, their functions, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning opportunities to improve knowledge of boiler valve operations, testing, and repair methods.
    • Stay updated on industry standards, tools, and best practices for valve maintenance and repair.
  8. Team Collaboration:

    • Work under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers to complete tasks efficiently and contribute to team goals.
    • Collaborate with other team members to meet maintenance schedules and ensure the boiler system operates smoothly.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, particularly valves, and their operation in boiler systems.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop hands-on skills in valve maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, pipe cutters) and mechanical testing equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Good attention to detail and a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to assist in diagnosing and fixing minor valve issues.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with senior technicians and team members.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
  • A certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field is beneficial but not required.
  • Any relevant coursework or experience related to boiler systems or valve maintenance is a plus.

Experience:

  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Internships, apprenticeships, or academic projects related to mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or boiler operations are advantageous but not mandatory.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools used for valve installation and maintenance.
  • Exposure to mechanical testing tools, such as pressure gauges or flow meters, is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with boiler systems and their components, including valves, pumps, and control systems, is a plus.
