The Boiler Plant Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the boiler plant, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable steam generation and heat supply to industrial processes. This role involves oversight of plant operations, maintenance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, and energy optimization within the boiler plant facility.
Lead all aspects of boiler plant operations, including high-pressure steam generation, feedwater systems, fuel handling, emissions control, and auxiliary systems.
Ensure 24/7 plant reliability and uptime through proactive operational planning and troubleshooting.
Enforce compliance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes, OSHA, EPA, and local jurisdictional laws related to pressure systems and emissions.
Maintain and update safety policies, incident response plans, and permit-to-work systems.
Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all boiler equipment, coordinating with mechanical and instrumentation teams.
Approve work orders, monitor shutdown schedules, and ensure quick turnaround of breakdowns.
Monitor and optimize fuel usage, steam output efficiency, heat recovery, and system losses.
Implement energy-saving strategies and technologies (e.g., economizers, VFDs, automated controls).
Manage a team of boiler operators, supervisors, technicians, and engineers.
Conduct regular training, skill assessments, and performance evaluations.
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of boiler performance, emissions, and incidents.
Interface with regulatory bodies and third-party inspectors for certifications and audits.
Develop and manage operating budgets, capital improvement plans, and infrastructure upgrades.
Lead or support engineering projects related to boiler retrofits, expansions, and automation.

Education:
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field
(Postgraduate degree or MBA in Operations/Engineering Management is an advantage)
Experience:
15+ years of experience in boiler plant or utilities operations
5+ years in a managerial or leadership role in high-capacity steam generation facilities
Experience with high-pressure, large-capacity boiler systems (HRSG, fire-tube, water-tube, etc.)
Certifications:
Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) License or equivalent (mandatory)
Knowledge of ASME Section I, Section VIII, API 520/521, NBIC, and NFPA codes
Energy Manager (CEM/BEE) is a plus
Skills:
