The Boiler Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of high-pressure steam boiler systems and associated utility equipment. This role oversees a team of boiler operators and technicians, ensures compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ASME, API, local boiler regulations), and optimizes system performance to meet plant production needs.
Manage day-to-day operations of industrial steam boilers, including start-ups, shutdowns, blowdowns, fuel handling, and water treatment.
Monitor operating parameters and troubleshoot anomalies in real time.
Lead, train, and evaluate a team of boiler operators and control room technicians across shifts.
Ensure all personnel follow safety, operational, and environmental standards.
Optimize boiler efficiency, steam-to-fuel ratio, and auxiliary equipment performance (e.g., deaerators, economizers, air preheaters).
Implement energy-saving initiatives and fuel cost reduction strategies.
Ensure full compliance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, local jurisdictional boiler rules, and environmental emission standards.
Conduct routine safety checks, risk assessments, and audits.
Work closely with maintenance teams to plan and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of recurring operational issues.
Operate and optimize DCS/PLC/SCADA systems for boiler and utility equipment.
Analyze trend data, alarm logs, and performance KPIs to improve reliability and uptime.
Lead incident response during boiler trips, steam system failures, or pressure anomalies.
Maintain emergency shutdown procedures and contingency planning.
Safe and continuous steam generation
Compliance with boiler codes and permits
Operational optimization and energy efficiency
Effective shift supervision and training
Collaboration with maintenance and engineering
