Job Title: Senior Boiler Mechanical Technician

Job Summary: 

The Senior Boiler Mechanical Technician will lead the maintenance, installation, and repair of boiler systems, ensuring their efficient and safe operation. This role requires extensive experience in mechanical systems and a deep understanding of boiler operations, safety protocols, and maintenance practices. The Senior Boiler Mechanical Technician will oversee junior technicians, provide expert guidance, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize system performance and reliability while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Supervision:

    • Lead and supervise a team of boiler mechanical technicians, providing guidance and support.

    • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of boiler components, including safety valves, pressure relief valves, and control valves.

    • Ensure all work is performed according to technical diagrams, instructions, and manufacturer specifications.

  2. Advanced Troubleshooting and Repairs:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex boiler issues, such as leaks, faulty operation, or pressure regulation problems.

    • Perform advanced repairs and replacements of faulty components.

    • Calibrate components to ensure proper operation under various pressure and temperature conditions.

  3. System Testing and Calibration:

    • Test boiler functionality after maintenance or installation to ensure they operate according to required specifications.

    • Conduct pressure and leak testing on components to ensure the integrity and safety of the boiler system.

    • Use specialized tools and equipment to calibrate components for proper operation.

  4. Safety Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols during installation, maintenance, and repairs to prevent accidents and ensure safe working conditions.

    • Ensure installations comply with relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).

    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize safety hazards.

  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements.

    • Prepare detailed maintenance reports and document issues encountered during maintenance or repair procedures.

    • Support engineering teams in creating detailed reports for future reference or compliance audits.

  6. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop technical skills in boiler systems, including learning about various types of components, their functions, and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning opportunities to improve knowledge of boiler operations, testing, and repair methods.

    • Stay updated on industry standards, tools, and best practices for boiler maintenance and repair.

  7. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to complete tasks efficiently and contribute to team goals.

    • Collaborate with other team members to meet maintenance schedules and ensure the boiler system operates smoothly.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Extensive understanding of mechanical systems, particularly boilers, and their operation.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams and mentoring junior technicians.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).

  • A certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field is preferred.

  • Relevant coursework or experience related to boiler systems or mechanical maintenance is advantageous.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or boiler operations.

  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing boiler components is required.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency with hand tools used for boiler installation and maintenance.

  • Familiarity with mechanical testing tools, such as pressure gauges or flow meters.

  • Knowledge of boiler systems and their components, including valves, pumps, and control systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
