Job Title: Boiler Mechanical Technician

Job Summary:

The Boiler Mechanical Technician will assist in the maintenance, installation, and repair of boiler systems, ensuring that these critical components function efficiently and safely. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on experience working with industrial boiler systems, particularly in steam boilers, heating systems, and power plants. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, the Boiler Mechanical Technician will learn the skills necessary to support the operational efficiency and safety of boiler systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and Setup:

   - Assist in installing various boiler components, such as safety valves, pressure relief valves, and control valves.

   - Follow technical diagrams and instructions to ensure components are correctly installed and set up according to boiler system requirements and manufacturer specifications.

   - Ensure all associated piping, supports, and connections are correctly installed.

2. Routine Maintenance and Inspections:

   - Perform routine inspections of boiler components to check for signs of wear, leaks, corrosion, or other damage.

   - Assist in lubricating and cleaning components to prevent malfunction or failure.

   - Maintain records of routine maintenance, inspections, and parts replacements.

3. Troubleshooting and Repairs:

   - Support senior technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting boiler issues, such as leaks, faulty operation, or pressure regulation problems.

   - Perform minor repairs and replacements of faulty components under the supervision of senior technicians.

   - Learn how to calibrate components to ensure they operate correctly under various pressure and temperature conditions.

4. System Testing and Calibration

   - Help test boiler functionality after maintenance or installation to ensure they are operating according to the required specifications.

   - Assist with pressure and leak testing on components to ensure the integrity and safety of the boiler system.

   - Use specialized tools and equipment to calibrate components for proper operation within boiler systems.

5. Safety Compliance

   - Follow all safety protocols during installation, maintenance, and repairs of boiler components to prevent accidents and ensure safe working conditions.

   - Ensure that installations comply with relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).

   - Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize safety hazards.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

   - Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements.

   - Prepare maintenance reports and document issues encountered during maintenance or repair procedures.

   - Support senior technicians in creating detailed reports for future reference or compliance audits.

7. **Learning and Development:

   - Continuously develop technical skills in boiler systems, including learning about various types of components, their functions, and troubleshooting techniques.

   - Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning opportunities to improve knowledge of boiler operations, testing, and repair methods.

   - Stay updated on industry standards, tools, and best practices for boiler maintenance and repair.

8. Team Collaboration:

   - Work under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers to complete tasks efficiently and contribute to team goals.

   - Collaborate with other team members to meet maintenance schedules and ensure the boiler system operates smoothly.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, particularly boilers, and their operation.

- Strong willingness to learn and develop hands-on skills in boiler maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting.

- Familiarity with basic hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, pipe cutters) and mechanical testing equipment is a plus.

- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.

- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on safety and quality.

- Basic problem-solving skills to assist in diagnosing and fixing minor boiler issues.

- Strong communication skills for collaborating with senior technicians and team members.

Educational Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).

- A certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field is beneficial but not required.

- Any relevant coursework or experience related to boiler systems or mechanical maintenance is a plus.

Experience:

- No prior professional experience required.

- Internships, apprenticeships, or academic projects related to mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or boiler operations are advantageous but not mandatory.

**Tools and Technologies:

- Basic knowledge of hand tools used for boiler installation and maintenance.

- Exposure to mechanical testing tools, such as pressure gauges or flow meters, is beneficial but not required.

- Familiarity with boiler systems and their components, including valves, pumps, and control systems, is a plus.

Other Requirements:

- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.

- Strong interest in learning about mechanical systems and a desire to grow in the field of industrial maintenance.
