Job Title: Boiler Insulator

Job Summary:

The Senior Boiler Insulator will lead the application, maintenance, and repair of insulation materials on boilers, pipes, and other equipment to enhance energy efficiency and safety. This role requires extensive experience in insulation work and a deep understanding of insulation techniques, safety protocols, and maintenance practices. The Senior Boiler Insulator will oversee junior technicians, provide expert guidance, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize system performance and reliability while adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Supervision:

    • Lead and supervise a team of boiler insulators, providing guidance and support.

    • Oversee the application of insulation materials to boilers, pipes, and other equipment.

    • Ensure all work is performed according to technical diagrams, instructions, and manufacturer specifications.

  2. Advanced Troubleshooting and Repairs:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex insulation issues, such as wear, damage, or improper installation.

    • Perform advanced repairs and replacements of damaged insulation materials.

    • Ensure proper installation of vapor barriers and protective coverings to maintain insulation integrity and safety.

  3. System Testing and Calibration:

    • Test insulation effectiveness after application or repair to ensure it meets required specifications.

    • Conduct inspections and testing on insulation materials to ensure their integrity and safety.

    • Use specialized tools and equipment to measure and verify insulation performance.

  4. Safety Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols during the application, maintenance, and repair of insulation materials to prevent accidents and ensure safe working conditions.

    • Ensure insulation work complies with relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).

    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize safety hazards.

  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements.

    • Prepare detailed maintenance reports and document issues encountered during insulation work.

    • Support engineering teams in creating detailed reports for future reference or compliance audits.

  6. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop technical skills in insulation techniques and materials.

    • Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning opportunities to improve knowledge of insulation methods and best practices.

    • Stay updated on industry standards, tools, and best practices for insulation work.

  7. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to complete tasks efficiently and contribute to team goals.

    • Collaborate with other team members to meet maintenance schedules and ensure the boiler system operates smoothly.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Extensive understanding of insulation materials and techniques.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex insulation issues.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams and mentoring junior technicians.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).

  • A certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field is preferred.

  • Relevant coursework or experience related to insulation work or mechanical maintenance is advantageous.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in insulation work, mechanical systems, or industrial maintenance.

  • Extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing insulation components is required.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency with hand tools used for insulation work.

  • Familiarity with insulation materials and techniques.

  • Knowledge of boiler systems and their components, including valves, pumps, and control systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.

  • Strong interest in learning about insulation work and a desire to grow in the field of industrial maintenance.

  • Willingness to work in industrial or field environments and adhere to safety regulations.
