We are seeking a knowledgeable and leadership-oriented Senior Boiler Engineer to manage high-capacity boiler systems across operations, maintenance, performance improvement, and compliance functions. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise in boiler thermodynamics, pressure part systems, combustion control, and failure diagnostics. This role includes leading teams, optimizing efficiency, ensuring safety compliance, and managing technical upgrades in power generation or industrial utilities.
Lead the operation and optimization of steam-generating equipment including high-pressure boilers, superheaters, economizers, and air preheaters.
Analyze boiler efficiency, heat rate, and emissions data to implement corrective actions and operational improvements.
Review DCS trends, alarms, and combustion behavior to guide plant operators in achieving safe, stable operation.
Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance plans for boiler and auxiliary mechanical systems.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for boiler failures, leakages, and unplanned shutdowns.
Approve maintenance work packs, inspection protocols, and repair procedures for critical equipment.
Manage statutory inspections and ensure all boiler operations conform to applicable codes (IBR, ASME, API, local regulatory bodies).
Supervise hydrotesting, NDTs, welding activities, and pressure part replacements.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for inspections, calibrations, and compliance audits.
Guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians in operations, diagnostics, and technical analysis.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, instrumentation, process, HSE) for project execution and maintenance planning.
Lead major overhauls, shutdowns, or retrofit projects involving boiler revamps, burner upgrades, or control tuning.
Enforce LOTO, confined space entry, and hot work permit systems during critical maintenance activities.
Drive HAZOP reviews, risk assessments, and contribute to incident investigations.
Standardize operating procedures and participate in the development of reliability improvement programs.
Technical leadership in boiler operations and performance tuning
Failure diagnostics, inspection management, and asset reliability
Statutory and safety code compliance (IBR, ASME, local regulations)
Shutdown planning, engineering change management, and team development
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, or Thermal Engineering
Master’s Degree or specialization in energy systems or power plant operation (preferred)
First-Class Boiler Attendant Certificate or equivalent mandatory based on region
Advanced safety certifications (hot work, confined space, pressure equipment) strongly preferred
Knowledge of IBR, ASME Sec I, Sec VIII, TEMA, and NBIC standards
8 to 15+ years of progressive experience in boiler operations, mechanical maintenance, or utility engineering
Proven experience with high-pressure steam boilers in power plants, refineries, chemical, or process industries
Experience in leading shutdowns, audits, and technical upgrades
Advanced knowledge of boiler thermodynamics, combustion control, and efficiency analytics
Familiarity with CMMS (SAP/Maximo), DCS operations, thermal modeling, and inspection tools
Proficiency in reading P&IDs, fabrication drawings, isometrics, and piping layouts
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building capabilities
Excellent communication for cross-functional coordination and client interaction
Data-driven, results-oriented approach with high attention to safety and quality
