Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Boiler Construction Supervisor (Mid-Level) to oversee the construction, erection, and commissioning of industrial boilers and associated pressure parts. The role requires hands-on field supervision, contractor coordination, and quality control to ensure safe, timely, and code-compliant execution of boiler construction activities.


Key Focus Area:

  • Supervise and coordinate all mechanical activities related to boiler construction, including pressure part installation, tube welding, hydrotesting, and structural support erection, ensuring compliance with ASME codes, project specifications, and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day field activities related to boiler assembly, welding, rigging, lifting, and alignment.

  • Review and interpret fabrication drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and installation procedures.

  • Ensure all pressure parts, headers, drums, tubes, and supports are installed according to applicable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and project specs.

  • Monitor contractor performance, manpower allocation, and progress against construction schedule.

  • Verify fit-up, weld joint preparation, WPS application, and coordinate with NDT teams for quality inspections.

  • Ensure that lifting plans, scaffolding, and access solutions are in place and compliant with safety protocols.

  • Support hydrotesting, steam blowing, and commissioning activities.

  • Maintain daily site logs, progress reports, and issue tracking.

  • Enforce site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and toolbox talks.

  • Interface with QA/QC, engineering, planning, and HSE teams to resolve field issues and close punch items.


Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background.

  • 5–8 years of experience in boiler construction, erection, or shutdowns, preferably in power plants, refineries, or process industries.

  • Strong knowledge of boiler components, erection sequences, and construction codes such as ASME Section I, Section VIII, and B31.1.

  • Experience supervising contractors, welders, riggers, and fitters in field construction settings.


Key Skills:

  • Boiler Construction Expertise – Practical understanding of boiler parts (drums, headers, tubes, supports) and installation techniques.

  • Code Compliance – Familiarity with ASME Boiler Code, IBR, and pressure vessel regulations.

  • Field Supervision – Strong ability to lead, monitor, and coordinate trades and subcontractors.

  • Welding Oversight – Knowledge of welding processes, WPS compliance, and weld quality control.

  • Problem Solving – On-the-spot decision making for fit-up issues, material mismatches, or design clarifications.

  • Planning and Progress Monitoring – Ability to track work status, report deviations, and drive milestone achievement.

  • Safety Leadership – Understanding of construction safety standards and ability to lead by example in field environments.

  • Communication – Clear and assertive communication with teams, clients, and inspection authorities.


Preferred Certifications:

  • Boiler Erection Supervisor License (as required by jurisdiction)

  • ASME/IBR awareness training

  • OSHA 30 or equivalent construction safety certification

  • Basic NDT or welding inspection exposure (a plus)


Working Conditions:

  • Primarily site-based at construction or shutdown locations

  • Exposure to high-temperature, high-pressure systems and elevated work areas

  • PPE and compliance with all site safety protocols required

  • May involve shift work or extended hours during outages or peak erection phases
