Job Title: Boiler Commissioning Engineer 

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Boiler Commissioning Engineer to execute and manage the commissioning, testing, and performance validation of boiler systems. This role is ideal for professionals with solid field experience who can independently handle startup sequences, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth handover to operations. The engineer will coordinate with project, operations, and OEM teams to ensure safety, compliance, and successful commissioning of both new and overhauled boiler systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning & Startup:

  • Execute boiler commissioning plans including pre-startup checks, hydrostatic testing, drying out, ignition trials, and load trials.

  • Manage commissioning procedures for auxiliary systems such as feedwater, fuel, air supply, soot blowers, and safety interlocks.

  • Validate instrumentation, control loops, and interlock logic for safe boiler operation.

  • Perform system flushing, pressure testing, and boiler blowdown as per standards.

Testing & Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct burner tuning, combustion analysis, and performance testing to meet efficiency and emission targets.

  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, process, or instrumentation issues during startup and ensure resolution in coordination with relevant teams.

  • Monitor system behavior and maintain accurate logs of operational parameters.

Coordination & Supervision:

  • Interface with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams during commissioning phases.

  • Supervise junior technicians and ensure safety compliance during commissioning activities.

  • Support handover documentation and performance validation for client acceptance.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all commissioning activities follow applicable safety standards and permit-to-work systems.

  • Enforce PPE usage and contribute to risk assessments, toolbox talks, and hazard mitigation.

  • Ensure compliance with ASME codes, local boiler regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.

Documentation & Handover:

  • Prepare commissioning reports, test records, punch lists, and startup documentation.

  • Contribute to final documentation for handover to operations and maintenance.

  • Support training and operational readiness programs for end users.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Power, or related discipline

Certifications:

  • Boiler Attendant/Operator License (preferred)

  • Exposure to ASME Section I, local boiler codes, and safety standards

Experience:

  • 3–6 years of experience in commissioning, startup, or maintenance of industrial or utility boilers

  • Hands-on experience in field troubleshooting, system testing, and vendor coordination

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of boiler systems including burners, economizers, air preheaters, feedwater and fuel systems

  • Familiarity with DCS/PLC logic, loop checks, and instrumentation calibration

  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, commissioning checklists, and control diagrams

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Good communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and in rotating shifts during startup
