Job Summary:
The Biomedical Calibration Engineer (Fresher) is responsible for assisting in the calibration, testing, and maintenance of biomedical equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This entry-level role provides hands-on training and foundational experience in the calibration of biomedical instruments under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibration and Testing:
- Assist in the calibration of biomedical devices such as patient monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and defibrillators.
- Perform basic testing of biomedical equipment to ensure accurate functionality and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) during calibration tasks to maintain consistency and precision.
Documentation:
- Record calibration data and maintain detailed logs for compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Assist in the preparation of calibration certificates and reports for review by senior engineers.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Support routine maintenance of calibration tools and biomedical equipment.
- Identify and report any issues or irregularities in equipment performance.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and organizational guidelines during calibration and testing activities.
- Learn and apply relevant standards, including ISO 13485 and ISO 17025, in calibration processes.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with senior engineers and technicians to complete calibration and testing tasks.
- Participate in team discussions and training sessions to develop technical knowledge and skills.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of biomedical devices and their measurement principles, such as patient monitors, ECG machines, and infusion pumps.
- Familiarity with calibration tools such as signal simulators, pressure meters, and electrical safety analyzers is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and address common issues in biomedical devices.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic training or certification in biomedical calibration or metrology is advantageous but not mandatory.
Key Focus Areas:
Calibration of Biomedical Equipment:
- Assist in calibrating medical devices and biomedical equipment, including patient monitoring systems, diagnostic tools, and therapeutic devices.
- Learn and follow established calibration procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of the equipment.
Testing and Validation:
- Support the testing and validation of biomedical equipment to ensure it meets operational specifications and regulatory standards.
- Assist in performing functional tests on various types of equipment, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with safety and performance guidelines.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that calibration and testing activities adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements, including FDA and ISO standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and compliance inspections.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Provide assistance in performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on biomedical equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
- Support senior engineers in diagnosing and resolving technical issues with equipment functionality.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of calibration activities, test results, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
- Assist in preparing detailed reports on equipment performance, calibration activities, and troubleshooting efforts.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to biomedical devices or calibration are beneficial.
Tools and Equipment:
- Calibration tools such as signal simulators, pressure meters, electrical safety analyzers, and patient simulators.
- Knowledge of basic data logging or calibration management software is a plus.
