Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Avionics Mechanical Engineer (Fresher Level) to join our engineering team. In this entry-level role, you will be responsible for assisting with the design, integration, and testing of mechanical components and systems for avionics systems in aircraft. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and gain valuable hands-on experience in the aerospace industry, particularly in the integration of mechanical and electrical systems within avionics. This position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience to develop their skills in avionics mechanical design and support cutting-edge aerospace technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting with Avionics System Design and Development:

    • Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components that integrate with avionics systems, such as sensor mounts, housing, and enclosures.
    • Support the mechanical integration of avionics systems within the overall aircraft or spacecraft structure, ensuring proper fit and functionality.
    • Use CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD) to create 3D models, drawings, and assembly instructions for avionics components.
  2. Mechanical Analysis and Simulation:

    • Assist in performing basic structural, thermal, and vibration analyses on avionics components to ensure they meet safety, performance, and environmental requirements.
    • Help conduct simulations and tests on avionics mechanical systems to validate their functionality and durability under various conditions (e.g., temperature, pressure, vibrations).
    • Work with senior engineers to identify potential issues and suggest design improvements based on analysis results.
  3. Prototyping and Testing Support:

    • Assist with the creation and testing of mechanical prototypes for avionics components to ensure they meet technical specifications and operational requirements.
    • Help set up and conduct tests on avionics systems and their mechanical interfaces, including structural integrity tests and environmental simulations.
    • Record and analyze test data, and support the senior team in making design adjustments based on the results.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate documentation of mechanical design work, including technical drawings, specifications, test results, and change logs.
    • Prepare and update reports on design progress, testing outcomes, and any issues encountered during the design process.
    • Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including aerospace standards (e.g., FAA, MIL-SPEC).
  5. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

    • Collaborate with electrical engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical components in avionics systems.
    • Participate in design reviews and discussions with other engineering teams to ensure that avionics systems are optimized for both mechanical and electrical performance.
  6. Learning and Skill Development:

    • Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning under the mentorship of senior engineers to enhance your knowledge of avionics, mechanical systems, and aerospace industry standards.
    • Continuously develop your skills in mechanical design, testing, and avionics systems integration through hands-on experience and knowledge sharing with the team.

Key Focus Areas:

Aerodynamics:
  • Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
  • Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
  • Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
  • Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
  • Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
    • Freshers or recent graduates are encouraged to apply; no prior professional experience is required.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and creating technical drawings.
    • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, including mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and vibration analysis.
    • Knowledge of basic electrical systems and an understanding of how they integrate with mechanical components in avionics systems is a plus.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Eagerness to learn and the ability to absorb new concepts quickly.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals and deadlines.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Certification in CAD software (e.g., Certified SolidWorks Associate).
    • Any additional coursework or certifications related to avionics systems or aerospace mechanical design is beneficial.
