The Senior Automation Supervisor leads the supervision, optimization, and reliability of highly automated bottling and packaging lines. This role ensures the seamless functioning of PLC/SCADA systems, supports the deployment of new automation technologies, and drives improvements in line performance and efficiency.
Supervise and guide the automation team for the operation and maintenance of automated bottling and packaging systems (filling, capping, labeling, shrink wrapping, palletizing).
Ensure high equipment availability through effective system monitoring and fast resolution of automation issues.
Maintain control system reliability and uptime standards.
Lead troubleshooting and tuning of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
Oversee control system upgrades, program changes, and integration of new machinery.
Ensure network communication stability, fieldbus protocols, and system backups are maintained.
Analyze production line data (OEE, downtime, reject rates) to identify automation-related bottlenecks.
Drive automation-led process improvements, including cycle time reduction, changeover optimization, and predictive controls.
Lead kaizen events and digital transformation initiatives related to packaging automation.
Support the implementation of new automation and packaging projects, including system commissioning and validation.
Interface with OEMs and vendors during installation and integration of bottling lines.
Review and approve control system design, I/O mapping, and control logic.
Ensure proper documentation of PLC logic, HMI configurations, control narratives, and change control records.
Enforce compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO, and food safety standards.
Lead readiness for internal and regulatory audits concerning automation systems.
Mentor and develop automation technicians and junior engineers.
Conduct structured training on system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance best practices.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and innovation within the automation team.
Expertise in automated bottling and packaging systems (e.g., KHS, Krones, Sidel, Tetra Pak, etc.)
Advanced knowledge of PLC (Siemens/AB), SCADA, HMI, industrial networks (Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
Familiarity with vision inspection systems, robotics, and line tracking systems
Proven leadership and coordination capabilities across cross-functional teams
Strong analytical, documentation, and process optimization skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering
6–10 years of experience in automation systems, with 3+ years in a supervisory or lead role
Prior exposure to high-speed packaging environments and control system commissioning
Knowledge of TPM, Lean Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies is an asset
