The Manager – Analytical and Laboratory Instrumentation Engineering will lead the regional or national service operations for laboratory instrumentation including installation, calibration, validation, and compliance oversight. This role includes team leadership, key account management, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 17025). The manager will drive service excellence, strategic initiatives, and customer satisfaction while optimizing technical workflows, workforce capability, and cost efficiency.
Lead and manage the service, calibration, and validation operations for analytical and laboratory instruments across assigned geographies.
Supervise a team of engineers and technicians, handling resource allocation, technical escalation, and performance management.
Plan and ensure on-time delivery of installation, AMC, IQ/OQ/PQ, and breakdown support for instruments like HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, TOC, etc.
Build and maintain strong client relationships with key pharma/biotech clients, QC/QA heads, and project stakeholders.
Drive adherence to regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and implementation of data integrity and documentation standards.
Interface with OEMs and vendors for technical updates, warranty coordination, and training enablement.
Prepare operational reports, service KPIs, customer feedback reviews, and improvement action plans.
Champion internal training, SOP compliance, safety practices, and team certification on evolving technologies.
Manage technical escalations, conduct root cause analysis, and define corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Collaborate with sales, applications, and compliance teams to support pre-sales, demos, or regulatory audits.
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Lead 5–20+ field engineers, define KPIs, review performance, and enable upskilling.
Drive service revenue, customer satisfaction, and turnaround time (TAT) efficiency.
Expertise in Analytical Instrumentation
Command over:
HPLC / GC / UV-Vis / FTIR / TOC / ICP-MS / Balances / Karl Fischer / Dissolution
Empower, Chromeleon, LabSolutions, and OpenLab CDS software
Capability to support integration with LIMS, SCADA, or digital lab platforms
Compliance & Quality Systems
Ensure all services comply with:
GMP, GLP, ISO 17025, MHRA, US FDA
ALCOA+ principles, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity frameworks
Customer Relationship & Account Growth
Act as technical account manager for key clients
Address customer escalations, audit queries, and build long-term trust
Calibration & Validation Oversight
Lead planning and execution of:
IQ/OQ/PQ protocols
Traceable calibration documentation
Audit support & deviation handling
Documentation, Audit Readiness & Reporting
Review validation documents, service reports, and compliance logs
Prepare monthly/quarterly MIS reports, customer feedback summaries, and SLA compliance reviews
Operational Planning & Resource Allocation
Manage spare inventory, tool calibration kits, and vendor coordination
Plan manpower shifts, field visits, and multi-site service schedules
Education:
B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Biomedical, Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering
OR M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry / Instrumentation Science
Experience:
10+ years in analytical instrument service, compliance management, or laboratory automation
3–5 years in a people management or team lead role in a regulated industry
Skills Required:
Deep technical understanding of lab instruments and software systems
Proficient in SOP drafting, CAPA systems, compliance audits, and KPI tracking
Effective communication, leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management
Travel:
Willingness to travel regionally or nationally based on project/service demands
