The Junior Analytical and Laboratory Instrumentation Engineer will support the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, TOC analyzers, pH/conductivity meters, and related analytical systems. The role is hands-on and customer-facing, requiring technical skill, attention to detail, and an understanding of GMP/GLP compliance in regulated environments.
Install, configure, and support laboratory instrumentation at client locations.
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and qualification of instruments.
Troubleshoot issues related to hardware, software, flow paths, detectors, etc., and escalate if needed.
Support IQ/OQ/PQ documentation and validation protocols.
Handle basic software configuration, firmware updates, and data connectivity setup.
Maintain accurate service reports, calibration certificates, and client logs.
Ensure compliance with regulatory norms (21 CFR Part 11, GMP, GLP, ISO 17025) where applicable.
Coordinate with the senior team and vendors for parts procurement and complex fault resolution.
Support demo instrument setup and customer training on basic operations.
Analytical Instrument Proficiency
Exposure to systems such as:
HPLC / UPLC
GC / GC-MS
UV-Vis and FTIR spectrophotometers
TOC analyzers
Karl Fischer titrators, balances, pH/Conductivity meters
Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
Perform routine instrument calibration (wavelength accuracy, flow rate, detector alignment).
Replace parts (lamps, seals, tubing), run diagnostics, and perform performance verification tests.
GMP / GLP Documentation & Validation
Assist in preparing and reviewing IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.
Ensure proper documentation aligned with audit and compliance standards.
Basic Troubleshooting & Support
Identify root causes for baseline noise, pressure issues, leakage, flow path blockages, etc.
Provide first-level support for software and firmware-related issues.
Customer Interaction & Field Etiquette
Engage with lab managers, QC/QA personnel, and research staff for instrument queries.
Maintain professional behavior, punctuality, and regular follow-ups.
Safety, Handling, and Compliance
Follow all chemical handling, PPE, and EHS norms while working in labs.
Maintain tool kits, calibration standards, and documentation tools.
