The Analytical & Laboratory Instrumentation Engineer (Fresher) will assist in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and support of laboratory instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, AAS, pH meters, balances, TOC analyzers, and others. This is an entry-level role intended to build strong technical foundations and provide exposure to real-world lab environments in regulated industries (pharma, chemical, food, research).
Assist in installation and basic setup of analytical laboratory instruments at customer sites.
Support preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and calibration activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
Learn to work with technical manuals, SOPs, and calibration protocols as per ISO/GMP guidelines.
Participate in demo setups, application testing, and customer trials under supervision.
Support the documentation of service reports, calibration certificates, and asset tags.
Coordinate with service team for spare parts, maintenance kits, and follow-up visits.
Ensure tools, test instruments, and equipment are properly handled and maintained.
Instrument Familiarization
Basic understanding of instruments such as:
HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography)
GC (Gas Chromatography)
UV-Vis Spectrophotometers
FTIR / NIR Spectrometers
TOC Analyzers, pH meters, conductivity meters, balances
Calibration & Maintenance Support
Assist in routine calibration, leak checks, lamp changes, filter checks, and baseline tests.
Exposure to GMP/GLP calibration protocols, traceability, and audit-readiness practices.
Service Documentation & Quality Compliance
Learn to generate and manage service reports, calibration logs, preventive maintenance checklists.
Follow 21 CFR Part 11, GMP, and ISO 17025 concepts where applicable.
Technical Skill Development
Train on instrument software interfaces, firmware updates, and basic diagnostics.
Learn electrical and fluidic connections, tubing layout, and chemical handling safety.
Field Service Etiquette & Customer Interaction
Develop professional communication skills, etiquette for visiting client labs, and handling instruments responsibly.
Maintain customer satisfaction by timely reporting and assistance.
Health, Safety, and Lab Practices
Comply with lab and field safety protocols, chemical handling rules, and PPE use.
Understand basics of waste disposal, sample handling, and cleanroom precautions (if applicable).
Education:
B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Mechatronics, Biomedical, or Chemical Engineering
OR B.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Science, or Physics (with instrumentation exposure)
Experience:
0–1 year; final-year project or internship in analytical instrumentation is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of sensors, pumps, optics, and lab instrument functions.
Comfortable with MS Excel, Word, and use of email/documentation tools.
Soft Skills:
Eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and disciplined work habits.
Ability to follow instructions, handle tools, and manage documentation responsibly.
