Install, connect, test/commission, and maintain DX air-conditioning and ventilation systems (ducted splits, hi-wall/VRF/mini-VRF where applicable, package units, FA/EF/SF fans, kitchen/toilet exhaust, pressurization fans if specified) in full compliance with Sharjah Municipality, SEWA, and Sharjah Civil Defense requirements, relevant ASHRAE/SMACNA standards, and project specifications—delivering safe, reliable, efficient performance under local weather and traffic/logistics constraints.
Read IFC/shop drawings, schematics, and builder’s work drawings; confirm pipe/duct routes, wall sleeves, slab openings, and drain falls; raise RFIs when needed.
Verify site readiness (power availability, mounting pads/stands, penetrations/firestopping, waterproofing on roofs/balconies).
Coordinate with Electrical for isolators/MCBs/earthing and with Civil/Finishes for soffit levels and access panels.
Install indoor/outdoor DX units (R410A/R32 or as specified), package units, AHUs/FCUs, FA/EF/SF fans, VAVs and motorized dampers per approved layouts.
Mount anti-vibration pads/stands; ensure service clearances and roof equipment anchorage per detail.
Fix ductwork (GI/PI) to SMACNA: hangers/straps, turning vanes, access doors; seal to specified class; fit volume/fire/smoke dampers and labels.
Install refrigerant piping (type-L copper): proper supports, brazed joints with nitrogen purging, pressure test with dry N₂, vacuum to ≤500 microns, charge by weight/superheat/subcool.
Install drainage with correct slope, P-traps/primers, insulation, and cleanouts; segregate from clean/dirty lines.
Fit thermal insulation (elastomeric) with vapor-tight joints and aluminum cladding outdoors; insulate ducts/FA intakes as specified.
Provide fresh air intakes and louvers with bird/bug screens; maintain separation from exhausts per ASHRAE 62.1.
Terminate control/power wiring to manufacturer standards; dress cabling in trays/conduits; verify rotation, overloads, and earthing.
Integrate Fire Alarm signals for shutdown/pressurization/SMDB interlocks as applicable; prove fire/smoke damper closure and end-switches.
Perform pre-commissioning: N₂ pressure tests, vacuum/holding tests, leakage checks, crankcase heater energization, belt tension/alignment.
Run-test units; record supply/return air temps, coil ΔT, superheat/subcool, compressor amperes vs. nameplate.
Measure/adjust airflows (hood/anemometer), set balancing dampers, verify room pressurization where specified.
Conduct duct leakage checks (where required), filter installation, and alarm/controls functional tests; produce T&C sheets.
Work to ITPs/method statements; present work for MIR/WIR inspections.
Maintain logs: pressure/vacuum/charging records, TAB reports, serial numbers/tagging, filter schedules, and as-built mark-ups.
Support O&M manual compilation and client/FM training on routine checks and filter changes.
Execute preventive maintenance during DLP: coil cleaning, belt/filters, drain flushing, refrigerant leak scans, control/thermostat checks.
Respond to call-outs; diagnose faults systematically and close snags promptly.
Follow hot-work controls for brazing; safe handling/recovery of refrigerants (cylinder storage, labeling).
Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) for electrical works; working-at-height and roof-edge protection; confined-space precautions for shafts.
Maintain housekeeping; manage condensate/waste and chemical cleaners safely (MSDS).
Heat & Humidity:
Schedule rooftop/outdoor works early morning/evening; comply with the MOHRE summer midday break.
Expect higher head pressure/ambient—verify condenser sizing/clearances; shade condensers where detailed; confirm ventilation in electrical/plant rooms.
Allow extended cure for sealants/adhesives; protect insulation from UV and premature aging.
Dust/Sand:
Keep coils/filters covered until late stage; install construction filters; clean coils and replace filters before T&C.
Seal open ducts; wipe bonding surfaces prior to tape/mastic.
Occasional Rain/Coastal Effects:
Weatherproof roof penetrations and cable/pipe entries; slope curbs, fit drip edges and water-tight flashings; use corrosion-resistant fixings where specified.
Traffic & Logistics:
Plan off-peak or night deliveries for package units/condensers and crane/hoist operations; obtain SRTA/Police permits if street occupation is needed.
Stage equipment near work fronts without overloading slabs; keep egress and inspection routes clear.
5–8 years HVAC install/commissioning experience (UAE/GCC preferred) on low/mid-rise buildings.
Skilled in DX/VRF, ducting to SMACNA, ASHRAE 62.1/55 basics, brazing with nitrogen, evacuation/charging, and TAB fundamentals.
Able to read drawings/schematics and complete QA forms; basic English for coordination (Arabic/Urdu/Hindi an advantage).
Refrigerant handling/technician certification preferred; valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
Manifold gauges & digital vacuum/micron gauge, recovery machine & cylinder scales, nitrogen kit/regulator, oxy-acetylene or brazing set, clamp meter/megger, anemometer/flow hood, manometer, IR thermometer, leak detector, swaging/flaring tools, crimpers, duct seaming tools, insulation tools, ladders/MEWP, PPE.
