Job Title: Aerospace Systems Technician
Job Summary:
The Aerospace Systems Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the aerospace systems maintenance team, ensuring the proper installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of avionics, propulsion, flight control, and other critical aerospace systems. The Supervisor will ensure that all work is performed in compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. They will also be responsible for managing the team’s workload, coordinating tasks, and providing mentorship to junior technicians, while maintaining high operational standards and driving continuous improvement in system performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead, manage, and supervise a team of aerospace systems technicians, ensuring that daily tasks are carried out efficiently and safely.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to technicians based on skill level, priority, and workload.
- Monitor technician performance, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Ensure that the team adheres to company policies, industry regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA), and safety standards in all maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
System Installation, Maintenance, and Testing:
- Oversee and ensure the proper installation, calibration, and testing of avionics, flight control, propulsion, and communication systems in aircraft or spacecraft.
- Supervise the maintenance and repair of aerospace systems, ensuring that all work is completed according to specifications and meets performance standards.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve complex system issues, working closely with senior engineers and technicians to implement corrective actions.
Project and Workflow Management:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the aerospace systems maintenance team, ensuring the completion of projects on time, within budget, and to required technical specifications.
- Coordinate the workflow of the team, balancing multiple projects and ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Work with engineers, project managers, and other departments to ensure alignment of team activities with broader project goals.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all aerospace systems maintenance, testing, and installation activities are conducted in compliance with safety protocols, industry regulations, and company standards.
- Oversee safety audits and inspections of systems, identifying and addressing any safety risks or non-compliance issues.
- Promote a culture of safety within the team, ensuring that safety practices are followed at all times during maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Mentorship and Training:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior and mid-level technicians, helping them develop their technical skills and knowledge.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages team members to share knowledge and best practices.
- Identify skills gaps within the team and implement training programs to ensure the team remains up-to-date with new technologies, systems, and industry best practices.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor the performance of aerospace systems to ensure they are operating optimally, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on maintenance activities, system performance, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Provide regular status updates to senior management on team performance, project progress, and any issues or delays.
Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, streamline maintenance processes, and reduce downtime for aircraft systems.
- Lead efforts to implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and the adoption of new tools and technologies.
Documentation and Quality Control:
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all maintenance, repair, and testing activities.
- Oversee the preparation of maintenance records, test logs, and compliance documentation for audits and inspections.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to regulatory standards and is properly maintained for future reference.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other teams to ensure effective system integration, smooth operations, and resolution of any technical issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely support for aircraft operations, including coordinating tasks related to maintenance and testing schedules.
- Assist in the coordination of supplier relationships and procurement of necessary components and systems for ongoing projects.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Strong technical knowledge of avionics, flight control systems, propulsion systems, and related aerospace technologies.
- Extensive experience in the maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of aerospace systems.
- Leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise a team and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage workflows, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure that team members adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Educational Qualifications:

- Additional certifications in avionics, systems maintenance, or aerospace technologies are beneficial.

Experience:
- 5+ years of experience working in aerospace systems, avionics, flight control systems, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining avionics and other aerospace systems.
- Experience in leading maintenance or repair activities, managing workflows, and supervising a team of technicians.
- Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA) and safety compliance procedures.
Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency with aerospace systems maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing devices.
- Experience with simulation software and system modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) for avionics and aerospace systems testing.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools for monitoring system performance and identifying areas for improvement.
