We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant / Junior Accountant to support our finance operations and ensure accurate record-keeping in compliance with accounting standards. This junior-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with foundational accounting knowledge who are eager to gain hands-on experience and build a strong foundation by working closely with senior accountants to ensure smooth functioning of the finance department.
Responsibilities:
- Record and maintain accurate day-to-day financial transactions, ledgers, and journals.
- Assist in preparing journal entries, reconciliations (bank, petty cash, and accounts), and basic financial statements.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice preparation, expense claims, and payment follow-ups.
- Help monitor daily cash flow and support cash/bank reconciliations.
- Organize and maintain financial records, reports, and supporting documents in compliance with company policies.
- Provide assistance during audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Respond to vendor and internal queries on payments, accounts, or documentation.
- Prepare basic financial summaries and ad hoc reports for review by senior accountants.
- Support internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (fresh graduates welcome).
- 0–2 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience (internships and training considered).
- Understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software, particularly Xero (along with QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems), is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Good communication and time-management abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment.
