Accountant Specialist Job Description
Job Summary:
The Accountant Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing support for internal audits. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting procedures, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide detailed financial insights that support decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure proper classification and documentation of financial transactions in compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements).
- Prepare reports for management, highlighting key financial data and offering insights for decision-making.
General Accounting:
- Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Monitor and record inventory, fixed assets, and other company resources.
Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, corporate policies, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts based on historical data and future financial projections.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results and provide recommendations for improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial reporting and accounting operations.
- Assist in the implementation of accounting software or systems enhancements to improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Xero, SAP, or Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional team
