Job Title: Mid-Level - Satellite Communications Expert
Job Summary
The Mid-Level Satellite Communications Expert is responsible for managing, optimizing, and troubleshooting satellite communication systems. This role requires a deep understanding of satellite networks, RF systems, and satellite ground equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations for business and telecommunications services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement satellite communication systems, including ground stations, satellite links, and onboard equipment.
- Optimize satellite network performance, focusing on throughput, latency, signal strength, and coverage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex satellite communication issues, coordinating with cross-functional teams to identify and fix root causes.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design satellite link budgets and ensure the network's scalability.
- Ensure proper configuration and deployment of satellite modems, routers, and RF equipment.
- Monitor satellite system performance to detect outages, degradation, or potential threats.
- Develop strategies for maintaining and enhancing satellite network security to prevent unauthorized access.
- Generate detailed performance reports, including recommendations for optimization and future upgrades.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Strong understanding of satellite communication technologies (e.g., DVB-S2, Ku/Ka-band, VSAT).
- Advanced knowledge of RF principles, including signal propagation, interference mitigation, and link budget analysis.
- Hands-on experience with satellite network design and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with satellite network monitoring tools and diagnostic systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues across various layers of the satellite network.
- Proficiency in IP networking, including routing protocols, QoS, and IP over satellite systems.
- Knowledge of satellite security best practices, including encryption and VPN over satellite networks.
- Ability to manage multiple satellite network projects and coordinate with external stakeholders.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, SATCOM, or equivalent) preferred.

Experience
